Client Case Study

Building a website for a small guitar pedal company

EAR Electronics is a community of artists, musicians, and circuits masters making guitar pedals in a cabin in the woods. They needed a website to get the word out about their wares.

My role

  • Select technology
  • Help edit and craft their message
  • Define their brand
  • Build out their first website

Working with Kelsey was such a weight off of our shoulders. We just gave her guidelines and basic content, told her what we wanted as far as functionality and really just sat back at let our website materialize in front of us.

Crafting the EAR Story

Before anything else, we defined the top three characteristics that made EAR different. And then we focused our strategy on telling that story.

Bold, one-of-a-kind art work

To showcase the creative, colorful artwork on each EAR pedal, we selected a minimalist canvas that would make the pedals pop and speak for themselves.

Handcrafted and homespun

From the wood grain of the floor in the photography, to the genuine language on the About page, we used words and visuals to portray a handmade, cozy feel.

Community of local artists

Because EAR pedal artists contribute their time, just for fun, we wanted to create space to show their personalities, recognize their talents, and demonstrate the depth of the local arts community.
